About Fresh 48 Sessions

On-location lifestyle photography

I LOVE fresh 48 sessions because it’s all about capturing that new bond of parents with their newest family member. If there’s a sibling, it’s a great time to capture their first meeting or the first time they hold their brother or sister. Shots of your little one’s first yawns, cute little baby feet, fingers, belly button will be documented. First feedings. Diaper changes. All of those amazing family meetings. Also, I will capture those quiet moments between you and your new little one. I like to use the hospital blankets and never try to hide the hospital bracelets.

Your baby’s Fresh 48 session will happen right after birth when those emotions are still high and everything is brand new. This is not a traditional newborn session; I will not pose the baby or bring props or lights. This will just be me capturing your baby’s sweet new moments in a fresh and natural way! While possibly only days apart, your baby will barely even look the same by the time of your newborn’s portrait session (typically held within 7-14 days of life). You are welcome to have family and/or siblings come up during this session… it’s a great way to capture everyone meeting your new little one! OR just have it be your immediate family for some sweet new family photos. These are candid, emotional, and amazing images!

A 50% Non-refundable retainer fee is due to book your session & goes towards the total investment of your Session.

Fresh 48 Sessions are on-location, one-hour lifestyle sessions designed with the brand-new family in mind. Held within the first 24-48 hours of your baby’s life. Jacenta books Fresh 48 Sessions locally at Stepen's Memorial Hospital but also travels to the Lewiston/Auburn area as well as Portland!

FAQ

When and Where Will it Take Place?

The session will take place at the place of delivery (hospital or birthing center) They are scheduled within the first 48 hours after delivery during daylight hours.

What makes Fresh 48 so special?

Fresh 48 is special because there are very few (if any) things more raw, important and emotional in life than having a baby. For a lot of moms and parents the first couple of hours and days after delivery can be a blur because of all the changes, actual labor and post delivery. I want you to always remember how beautiful the two of you looked as brand new parents. I want you to remember how it felt to look at your brand new baby and to never forget how fresh and new they looked just coming into the world.
There's nothing like it.

Do I need permission from the hospital?

Please ask and ensure photographers are allowed. In almost all cases they are treated as just a visitor so it's generally okay.

Can I book a Fresh 48 and Newborn session?

Yes, please! They are perfect complements to each other. One is no substitute to the other.

How long will you be there?

Approximately 1 hour.

When should I contact you to come?

I require you contact me (or someone does) after you go into labor so we can ensure availability for the suggested time-frame.

What if labor takes longer than expected?

That's fine! Just let me know when your little one arrives and we can schedule from there - regardless of your labor length.

What if my baby needs to be in the NICU?

In this event we will stay in touch and it is handled on a case-by-case basis. We may need to work with hospital staff to find out what we are and aren't able to do. In the event that I am unable to photograph the Fresh 48 as planned due to these circumstances your deposit will be applied to a future session.

What if deliver early?

Contractually I am on-call and available to you for 2 weeks prior and 2 weeks after your estimated due date. If you deliver earlier than that time-frame I will make every effort to still be available to you.
