About Newborn Sessions

In Studio Posed Newborn

I have a slight obsession with fresh babies – from their tiny toes to the little hairs on their heads (and sometimes their ears and shoulders), I just cannot get enough! The first few days of your baby’s life are so special and fleeting and I want to capture all those details that make up your perfect newborn.

Each eyelash. Those cute little lips. Everything that makes them unique!

I accept newborns up to 6 weeks of age. The first 2 weeks are surely the best since they are still brand new and really squishy! After 2 weeks there will be some poses we won't be able to do but you will definitely get that newborn experience no matter what!

I have specialized in newborn photography for over 5 years and have photographed over 300 newborns. Newborn safety is my top priority along with capturing beautiful, timeless images for you to have for a lifetime.

All sessions take place at 10:00am at my studio located in Oxford.

I love to focus on the simple beauty of your newborn with a minimal use of props and I provide everything for the session. All props are provided from wraps, headbands, hats, bonnets, buckets, bowls, crates, baskets, etc.  I love to incorporate textures and props in monochromatic palettes to create galleries that look seamless.

Why studio photography?  I have everything in my studio to create beautiful, timeless images, along with a client area for mom and dad to sit back and totally relax. I can control the temperature, lighting, and white noise to create the perfect sleepy environment for your little one.

FAQ

Where will my session be held?

All newborn sessions take place at my studio located at 1600 Main St, Suite 4 in Oxford, Maine. Sessions are typically held Sun-Tue & Thurs-Satuday at 10:00 am unless otherwise noted.
I have a place for parents to relax during the session and you have access to my coffee bar and some snacks!

How do you handle posing and props?

Posing is one of the most critical aspects of newborn photography. Your baby's comfort and security are first and foremost. I have learned and continue to learn from some of the best in the business and I'm proud to be a professional newborn photographer. As a mom of four and a Nani of one amazing little boy, I am very comfortable handling your little baby. I usually block out 2-3 hours for full newborn sessions, and we can take as many breaks as needed for feedings & diaper changes.
I have everything in my studio to provide you with a great experience for your baby's first professional photo shoot! My studio is stocked with all of the backdrops, wraps, props, hats, headbands and outfits that we need, so you don't need to bring anything! (Please note - all items are cleaned in between sessions).

When should I book?

It is never too early to reserve your due date on my calendar. I book tentative dates on the calendar by due date - and once baby arrives, we'll lock in your photo shoot date.
I prefer to schedule sessions within the first 2 weeks.
Our goal is to capture that newborn stage while your baby is still teeny tiny, squishy and sleepy! Once baby reaches 4-6 weeks, they do not love to be in all the same poses and may not sleep as soundly, but don't worry! I have photographed newborns up to 6 weeks old and we were still able to get some super cute shots!
